THANK YOU!!

April 01, 2018

We are so grateful for all of the support we received in our Assist to Persist campaign. As a result, our retention fund will be able to aid even more students with unmet need close the gap and continue their pursuit of a degree from NKU.

Although we didn’t quite reach our goal at this time, we fully intend to continue seeking means to sustain this fund. It seems like there will always be more students who need aid than resources we have at our disposal to offer such assistance. If you would like to help, please contact the Advancement Office (development@nku.edu; 859-572-6910) and consider the various means of designating contributions to this fund via annual giving, payroll deduction, recurring credit card charges, and so on. We have so many amazing alumni, we want to see our community of graduates continue to grow.

Home stretch

March 14, 2018

Registration begins next week on March 22, but there are still more than 200 students who will not be able to enroll in classes because they have holds on their account due to outstanding balances over $100. There was a story in the Washington Post (Guo, October 20, 2014), about an initiative at Morgan State University that is similar to what we are trying to do here at NKU. An enrollment specialist was quoted as saying, “‘We see students leaving our university for what I would say, or what you might say, is as little as $500,’ Mfume says. She adds, ‘But if I have zero, whether you’re telling me I owe $500 or $5,000, it’s the same.’” With assistance from this fund, we can help those students who are progressing academically and so close to being able to continue progressing financially.

Extending the reach of NKU

March 06, 2018

Meet Chinedu Asinugo. While his home is in Nigera, he has found family here in the College of Informatics. When he began to face challenges, we were able to help. As you can see in the video below, Chinedu talks about how he has benefited from the programs within the COI and the people that have stood behind him seeing that he succeeds.

Impact on retaining good students

February 27, 2018

Meet Tiara. She is one of the excellent students that we have been fortunate to attract to NKU. When her financial aid situation changed, it was unclear if she would be able to remain at the university. As you can see in the video below, she offers many positive contributions both inside and outside of the classroom.

We are glad that a small contribution from the College of Informatics helped make it possible for her to continue her studies at NKU. With your help, we hope that we can continue offering assistance to other students facing a similar situation.
