Rising Hope for Aging

If you would like to support our ongoing work to help the senior population in Northern Kentucky, please make a gift at: give.nku.edu/coehs or call Lori Cox at 859-572-7530.

Welcome to the Rising Hope for Aging Project!

We're glad you are here! The purpose of this project is to help Covington seniors through the promotion of healthier lifestyles, social engagement, and continuous learning.

We need your HELP!

Your gift, of any amount, can positively and meaningfully impact the needs of low-income seniors. No donation is too small. We also strongly encourage you to share this opportunity with people you know. YOU can help us transform lives! We cannot meet our goals for this program without your help!

Older adults are the fastest-growing segment of the population both in the United States and around the world. As social work educators and gerontology leaders, we aim to prepare our NKU social work students for future professional careers that will allow them to enhance the health and well-being of the aging population and their families.

Rising Hope for Aging gives us an opportunity to respond to the needs of residents of Golden Tower, owned and managed by the Housing Authority of Covington, Kentucky. Through this project, our students will work with local aging service programs and resources to learn new approaches to service delivery, raise awareness about the breadth of geriatric social work practice and increase the numbers of NKU social work students engaging in age-related support services in the Northern Kentucky area.

Goals

Students will develop and deliver quality health, educational and recreational programming for low-income seniors. NKU social work students will:

  • Gain real-world experience serving the needs of inner-city seniors while giving hope to those who often feel  discarded or forgotten by society.
  • Learn more about aging and community problems while meeting the needs of the seniors at Golden Tower
  • Engage with their community through the first gerontology class offered by the NKU Social Work Program
  • Become more involved with aging programs in Northern Kentucky and help promote NKU’s community engagement in geriatrics in the future

Please join us in support of Rising Hope for Aging today.

Thank You for your interest and generosity!
