Greetings from NKU’S new Institute for Student Research and Creative Activity.
In January 2018, we opened our doors to engage, support, enhance and acknowledge the involvement of students and their faculty mentors in research, scholarship and creative activities throughout campus. Our goal is to expand the number of opportunities available for students and further support these activities on our campus.
What is it about: The funds we raise for ISRCA is used to fund student experiences. This includes funding for student fellowships, project grants and travel funds. But we need your help to make them happen! Funding student research and creative activity has both short and long term impacts on our students.
Impact: Students get the immediate satisfaction of working on/completing a specific project and/or presenting this to their peers and other audiences. Long-term the benefits are more far-reaching. Students gain skills and experiences for their careers – be that working with specific chemicals or biological slides; or building a portfolio; or even figuring out a research agenda. Further, students gain self-confidence and tangible skills that they can use in their futures.
Students also gain the opportunity to network and build relationships with faculty, when they participate in these types of experiential learning. Those networks can be pivotal to their steps beyond college. Meeting a director, a graduate student recruiter or even making connections with companies through these activities gives students the opportunity to create networks that will serve them far beyond their years at NKU. Your support will make a difference in the lives of our students and take their education to the next level!
Why we need you: To provide these experiences, we need your help in funding our programs! Thank you for supporting our students!
