Age-Friendly University Scholarship

Support the NKU's Age-Friendly University Scholarship Fund

At Northern Kentucky University, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for adult students of all ages. Our Age-Friendly University (AFU) initiative exemplifies this commitment by promoting age-friendly practices and creating opportunities for lifelong learning and community engagement. The AFU scholarship funds support initiatives that align with the AFU principles, promoting inclusive and accessible education for adult learners who are enrolled at NKU. The primary purpose of these scholarship funds is to enhance educational opportunities, support research and innovation, foster intergenerational learning, and promote Age-Friendly Initiatives and community engagement. Additionally, these funds aim to provide financial support to students, thereby enhancing overall student success at NKU.

Why Support the AFU Scholarship Fund?

The AFU Scholarship Fund is designed to support currently enrolled adult learners at NKU who are dedicated to advancing age-friendly practices in their academic and professional pursuits. By contributing to this fund, you help us provide scholarships that empower adult students to make meaningful impacts in fields related to aging, gerontology, psychology, social work, and beyond at NKU. Your support ensures that future leaders and practitioners have the resources they need to contribute to research, policy, and community programs that enhance the quality of life for older adults.

How Your Donation Makes a Difference

Your donation to the AFU Scholarship Fund directly benefits students by:

  • Providing Financial Support: Scholarships alleviate the financial burden on students, allowing them to focus on their studies and research without the stress of financial constraints.
  • Encouraging Excellence: Financial support helps attract and retain top students who are committed to making a difference in the field of aging.
  • Promoting Innovation: Scholarships foster innovative research and projects that can lead to practical solutions and improvements in the lives of older adults.

The Impact of AFU Scholarships

Scholarships play a crucial role in supporting students who must balance their time and finances between academics, work, and family obligations. By alleviating financial burdens, scholarships enable students to participate in career and community engagement opportunities that might otherwise be financially inaccessible to them. They promote completion by providing financial support and resources to help students stay on track and graduate, thereby preparing them for successful careers and active community involvement. The allocation of AFU scholarship funds is guided by a structured and transparent process to ensure the funds are used effectively and align with the AFU's mission.
