In fall 2021, Steely Library opened NKU's first makerspace, Stego Studio, to all currently enrolled NKU students, faculty and staff. Stego Studio offers a state-of-the-art collaborative workspace with 3D printers and scanners, a laser cutter, a Cricut cutting machine, sewing machine, embroidery machine, button makers, and more. Like the library, the makerspace is unique from any other space or resource on campus. At no cost to them, students of any academic discipline are welcome to invent, create, learn new skills, and explore their curiosities. From project brainstorming to equipment tutorials to hands-on workshops, our expert makerspace staff is eager to assist NKU's budding makers every step of the way.
Over the past three years, Stego Studio has supported classroom instruction, tours, student making, and co-curriculuar workshops. In the last year alone, we welcomed 500 users to our space, 3D printed over 700 items and created and produced over 2,000 objects. Our collaboration with the NKU Honors College and Clovernook Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired was even featured on Fox19 and WPCO 9!
Stego Studio is growing and thriving and we need your help to keep this work moving forward. Your donation will help us purchase consumables (such as filament for the 3D printers, hardwoods, acrylic, and leather for the laser cutter, and fabric for the sewing and embroidery machines) and ensure our space continues to be accessible and free to our student makers. Please consider the funding levels listed as a guide to the positive impact that your donation of just $25 can make.
Support our student makers and help us deepen our campus impact by contributing to Stego Studio’s future!
Stego Studio was recently featured on The Northerner's website! Check out their great work describing our space and our resources available to all NKU students!
