Who We Are:
NKU’s Nurse Advocacy Center for the Underserved (NACU) is a non-profit collaborative program between NKU’s School of Nursing and numerous community agencies in Northern Kentucky to improve the health of the underserved by reducing health disparities. NACU provides essential health care to those who cannot afford or access medical care and seeks to diminish the substantial health gaps between those with resources and those without.
Why are we fundraising?
Our goal is to raise $2,500 to purchase electronic technology (tablets) and accessories (Stylus pens, cases, and software) used at our sites by NACU nurses and NKU students participating in clinical learning experiences. Any additional funds raised will be used to support other NACU priorities within the region.
Currently, NACU does not have an electronic medical record system. These tools will help us create an efficient data management system, provide telehealth services for clients in need, and further educate students about working with information management systems in healthcare.
Why is this Important?
Providing care to the underserved in our community is essential for individual health and overall population health. Also, experiential learning opportunities for students help create a skilled and competent workforce to provide care to those with complex health issues and those lacking social support.
