Thank you for your support! We blew our goal out of the water. Hope to celebrate it with you on September 30th as the Norse take on Cleveland State at 6pm. We have 5 days left to help leave a mark and make this project even better for our Volleyball program.
NKU Volleyball was featured on Cincinnati.com yesterday afternoon about the project. Only 10 days left and we're so close to our goal. Please consider a donation to help support the women's volleyball program.
When Northern Kentucky University makes its home volleyball debut Sept. 30, the Norse will have an increased home-court advantage.
For the first time since the facility was built in 1972, the volleyball locker room received a major upgrade in 2016. The renovations coincide with the program’s first season as a full member of Division I. The ongoing improvements to the facility will help the team in 2016 and for years to come.
“The locker room update has a very positive effect on our current and future NKU volleyball players,” said coach Liz Hart. “The upgrade improves the student-athlete experience by providing areas for our players to spend time together, study, and watch film in between practice and classes. We feel the modernization of the locker room will help excite future players.”
The Norse will get to enjoy their new lockers and team space when they host Cleveland State Sept. 30. The Norse opened the season with 13 road matches before making their home debut. They are excited to finally play in the friendly confines of Regents Hall.
“We can't wait to play our first home match on the 30th,” Hart said. “It will be a competitive weekend playing Cleveland State and Oakland. We love the game day environment in Regents Hall and we are excited to play in front our fans and students.”
The home opener is also the Norse’s annual Alumni Night. A reception will be held following that night’s match. The Norse are actively recruiting donors to complete the next phase of the renovation. As of this writing, the program is within $1,000 of its $10,000 fundraising goal. Alums, including Hart, have been instrumental in building the program up to be a Division I contender.
