Mitchell A. Schnure Endowed Scholarship in Piano Performance

Mitchell A. Schnure Endowed Scholarship in Piano Performance

On October 1, 2011, Mitchell Schnure, a Music Major at NKU, lost his battle with mental illness. After his passing, the Mitchell A. Schnure Endowed Scholarship in Piano Performance was established to support future NKU students pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance or Education with a focus on piano.

In honor of the 10th anniversary of Mitchell's passing, we invite you to contribute to the endowment and help us raise $10,000. The endowment currently supports two students a year with a $1000 scholarship each.  By reaching this goal, additional NKU SOTA students will be able to follow their dreams with reduced financial barriers to their educations.

Mitchell’s love of music began at a young age. Growing up in Loveland, OH, he began taking piano lessons at just 5 years old. Throughout his life, his love of music led him to learn many instruments (saxophone, bass guitar, trombone, just to name a few) but his love for the piano is what led him to NKU. He was a gifted pianist, superb accompanist and teacher. Those who knew Mitchell remember his sweet, gentle nature, kind sense of humor and wonderful laugh. Beyond music, Mitchell loved penguins, video games and spending time with his friends and family.

Help Mitchell's memory live on at NKU by making your best gift to the Mitchell A. Schnure Endowed Scholarship in Piano Performance and support the passions of NKU School of the Arts students for years to come.
